Bringing in the New Year with Love & Reflection

Happy New Year! I’m so excited to be blogging again, I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I blogged last! 2017 was a crazy year. I graduated with a PhD (I’m a doctor now! Heyyyyyyyy), moved to a new city (goodbye sunny desert and hello mountains!), and started a new job (I’m a nutrition professor!). So much craziness, but all good things. And now I have free time again, so here I am!

While I’m not sure New Year’s resolutions are the best idea, because they don’t tend to last (see my last blog post on this), I do like bringing in the new year with intention. It’s a great time to try new things. If you’re looking for a way to bring in motivation in your own life, I highly recommend A Year of Miracles. I picked it up a few months ago and have been reading it almost daily since.

A Year of Miracles is an awesome book by Marianne Williamson. If I could recommend just one book to bring with you into the new year, it would be this.

I would call this book more of a spiritual devotion rather than Christian. It’s like if Eckart Tolle said God rather than Source. I’m a few months into it and she hasn’t quoted the Bible or discussed Jesus yet, but God is discussed in almost every daily devotion. So take that for what you prefer.

What I appreciate about this book is its focus on love, compassion, and self-improvement.

After reading each morning’s devotion, I feel inspired and motivated to be more loving to others. It’s no wonder the New York Times called the author, “The prophet of love”! What’s nice too is the daily devotions are set up as Day 1, 2, etc. rather than specific dates so you can start this whenever you like.

So here is to a year of intentional love and happiness. I hope you all had a wonderful 2017 and an awesome 2018 so far! I’m excited to continue blogging and connecting with you all again 🙂

How was your 2017? Any exciting news or updates to share? Please leave a comment and let me know!
